About this worksheet

Words in this set: think, walk, were, when. This is set 9 of 9 in the Dolch First Grade list (41 words).

The packet practices the same words three ways: trace them, read and write them on your own, then rainbow-write each one in three colors. Doing one activity a day makes an easy routine for the week.

This is the last set in the list. Review the whole list to find any words that still need practice.

How to use this worksheet

Best for: Ages 6–7 (1st grade) · Time: 10 minutes a day

  1. Read the word aloud and use it in a short sentence, such as “I can see the cat.”
  2. Say the word slowly and point to the letters for each sound. If one part doesn’t sound the way it looks, point it out — that is the part to learn by heart.
  3. Trace the word, saying each letter name and starting at the dots.
  4. Read the word again, then cover it and write it from memory. Check and fix it together.

Printing: print at 100% (“Actual size”) on US Letter or A4 so the lines stay the right size. Plain copy paper works fine.
