Where to start

Best for: Ages 4–7 (preschool to 1st grade) · Time: 10–15 minutes per activity

Download the Thanksgiving handwriting packet to get all three activities in one PDF, or pick one page. Word tracing suits beginners, read and write works once children know the words, and rainbow writing makes a fun finish.

  • Day 1: trace the words (pie, corn, leaf, fall and more) and read each one aloud.
  • Day 2: read and write the words on their own, with the example covered.
  • Day 3: rainbow-write the favorite words in three colors.
  • Day 4: trace the phrases and copy one onto a card or drawing.

Tips for thanksgiving

  • Ask your child to name one thing they’re thankful for with each word.
  • Rainbow-write in fall colors: red, orange and brown.
  • Make a “thank you” card with the phrases page.
