About this worksheet
Each row shows the number, then its word: eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty.
Teen words follow a pattern — most end in “teen”. Point out how sixteen, seventeen and eighteen sound like six, seven and eight.

Common questions
When should children start learning number words?
Usually in kindergarten, once they can write numbers up to 10. Many first graders still work on spelling the teen words and the tens such as twenty.
Which number words are the hardest to spell?
Eight, eleven, twelve and the teens that end in “teen” cause the most mistakes. Spend extra time tracing them and look for patterns, such as four and fourteen.
